Clever ways to add Easter touches to your wedding menu.

Themed weddings can be so much fun while still being elegant and classy. The key is to keep things classic and simple while co-ordinating the themed elements. One way to do this is through your catering. And with Easter just round the corner, we’d thought we’d look at how you could add a little egg-tastic fun to your (or your client’s) wedding menu.

If you’re having a morning wedding, an Easter themed brunch is an excellent idea. From fruit bowls to egg frittatas to waffles, and loads of fabulous finger platters, there’s just enough sun left in March/April to make an outdoor or harvest buffet an easy yet memorable choice for your wedding feast.

Other Easter touches for your menu

1. Food that speaks to the theme

Without being too obvious, choose traditional Easter-related foods – chicken or lamb work well for most menus. Pair them with herbs, fruits, and spices (not to mention delicious green side dishes) to suit your tastes.

2. Theme up the cake

The wedding cake is the centrepiece of most wedding menus, whatever the time of day or style of service. Instead of fruit and marzipan, go for carrot or lemon cake (something that’s fresh and outside the norm) with white icing and pretty decorations – think bunnies or miniature eggs. A word to the wise – don’t go overboard with lots of different decorations – this is your wedding cake after all. Choose one look and feel and then make it perfection (or, better yet, call in the experts).

3. Sweet treats for everyone

If you’re having dessert bar, you can go chocolate all the way – from a chocolate fountain with marshmallows to a serve-yourself sweetie counter. And don’t forget the wedding favours – it’s so easy to do Easter with this foodie item. Go for little bags of multicoloured chocolate eggs or marshmallows. Or go for all white chocolate eggs, marked with the happy couple’s initials in edible paint. Biscotti or miniature brownies are also a firm wedding favour favourite that will keep your menu right on theme.
