TWBA Hunt Lascaris Cocktail Party
On Wednesday, 4 November 2015, Food Matters was very excited and honoured to be commissioned to cater for the TWBA Hunt Lascaris Cocktail Party. We catered for 120 guests at a magnificent Out of Africa and White Mischief inspired cocktail party at Southend in Westville. The Out of Africa theme allowed us to showcase our local ingredients which are always special and significant to us, sustainability and pride wise!
Food Matters offered a specialised catering menu including selections of fresh and delicious cold finger snacks, tummy filling hot finger snacks, and more substantial and delectable finger and small bowl foods. Finger desserts were also offered to complete the culinary experience.
TWBA Specialised Catering Menu
Keeping to our African theme we used Franschhoek smoked salmon on crostini, along with creamed cheese and garnished with dill, capers and lemon. To celebrate our Indian culture we served tikka masala marinated grilled prawns, served with a refreshing yoghurt and mint dressing. We prepared carpaccio of African ostrich on sesame won tons with mango and chilli jam, and South African snoek pate on Cape seed loaf.
The theme continued it's thread through the hot finger snacks - lamb bobotie spring rolls with pineapple chutney dipping sauce and assorted samosas which were enjoyed by the guests.
For fare for the ravenous we served lamb chops (trimmed and easy to eat with your fingers), mini boerewors rolls with home-made chakalaka, lamb curry with basmati rice and sambals, as well as lamb meat balls with a peanut and coconut drizzle. Guests were also offered finger licking honey and pineapple juice basted chicken winglets, with sesame seeds and spring onions, accompanied by salt and pepper squid, delicious with lemon, garlic and dill mayonnaise.
Delectable desserts were dark chocolate cups filled with dreamy cappuccino & Van der Hum mousse. Fresh and oh-so-moreish granadilla tarts and unmissable Amarula cheese cakes completed the feast on offer for a most excellent and very well executed African themed cocktail extravaganza!
