Planning a wedding after-party? Here’s what to do about the food.

More and more people are opting to serve midnight snacks as after-party food as their wedding evening progresses and guests have already eaten all the food that was originally provided. This is an especially good idea if you’re planning on taking the dance floor very seriously, and aren’t in a rush to get the party wrapped up.

Take a look through our favourite ideas for quick and easy snacks to serve

1. Doughnut hole

These are guaranteed to go down a treat! Serve them with a glaze or chocolate dipping sauce, either carried around on trays or self-service on a snacks table.

2. Milk and cookies

This is such a cute way to give people a little sugar high and something cold to sip on. Pour the milk into little shot glasses and place the cookie on top. For flavours, go classic with chocolate chip, or opt for something different like fudge or salted caramel.

3. Caffeine kick

Shots of espresso are a great energy booster, but might be a little too much for people who want to sleep, so make sure to offer a decaf option too!

4. Food trucks

This is an extravagant but amazing offering. The older guests may have gone home, but the younger guests are still around to party and are probably getting more and more ravenous. Offer an ice-cream truck or taco truck, or in Winter, go for something that serves a range of warm drinks like hot chocolate, lattes and teas. With this option, we can guarantee some very excited guests!

5. Pizza slices

A great savoury option for those who aren't immediately drawn to something sweet. These are easy to organise and can be heated and served as they are. Choose two or three flavour options, and make sure there's something there for those who are vegetarian!

6. Platters

These are a good decision when you’ve got too many people to please and you want the snacks to be as simple and straightforward as possible. Check out our previous post about healthy platter options to get some ideas.

The best thing about these midnight snack ideas is that guests won’t be expecting it at all, so it’s a great surprise element to include and the snacks don’t have to be complicated to make an impression. With Food Matters involved, you really won’t have to lift a finger.
