Looking for a new corporate caterer? Start with these questions.

When it comes to catering a corporate event, much of your guests’ enjoyment will rest on the food. And, if you are getting professional help, you will want to be sure you trust your catering company to do the best job when it comes to the service they are offering your company.

Has your previous catering company let you down, leaving you looking for a new catering company for your next big corporate event? Avoid disappointment and make sure you get the right caterers for the job.

5 questions you need to ask a new corporate caterer:

1. Who will I be working with?

You might spend time talking to an office manager when what you really need is to interact with the company owner or head chef. It’s important to understand how your catering company is structured and if you will be working directly with the individuals who make the decisions and, most importantly, make the food. Also ask about the staff that will be working your event, from the on-site manager to the runners so you have a good idea of what to expect on the day of your event.

2. Do you have experience catering events like mine?

Corporate events are not the same as weddings or birthday parties. They require on-the-ball timing and execution. Conferences and board meetings are particularly tricky to cater well so make sure you work with a catering company that has the expertise and experience to ensure a hassle-free catering experience.

3. What’s included in your costing?

Avoid any nasty surprises by asking exactly how your event is being costed. Is there a per head cost and what does that include? Are there extra fees for items like plates, napkins, and condiments? And, if there is a bar, how will that work? Don’t forget to confirm delivery and set up costs. Ask for a full cost estimate before you enter into a contract.

4. What services can you offer me that other catering companies cannot?

Some catering companies are limited in their range of services, from set menus to certain styles of food delivery. If you want a caterer who can respond to your unique needs and requests, you need to make sure they can deliver on a variety of fronts, from a themed menu to speciality platters for an office baby shower to a company picnic for your next big team building session.

5. Can I speak to your one of your current clients?

Great caterers have happy, loyal clients who are happy to brag about their services and give them great food reviews. And any caterer worth their salt should be happy to share some testimonials with a prospective client.
